Cookies & Local Storage

A preview, a cookie and a downloaded file are different things. Here is what the site’s editorial pages and local tools do.

What these technologies mean

Cookies are small values associated with a website that a browser can send back with subsequent requests. Local storage lets a website keep values in the browser across visits; those values are not automatically sent with every request. Both can be used for preferences, and both require appropriate disclosure when used.

A page can also hold temporary working information in memory. That is how the contact tool constructs its preview. A file that you deliberately download is stored separately on your device and is not a cookie.

What the editorial application uses

The site’s own editorial JavaScript does not set cookies, use localStorage or use sessionStorage. It handles navigation, scroll reveals and the contact message tool. No analytics or advertising services are included in that code, and the pages contain no embedded third-party players or social widgets.

The contact tool does not save your name, email address, setup details or question to browser storage. It uses the current page state to create text. Your browser may independently offer autofill or restore an earlier page state; those behaviours are controlled by browser and device settings.

Separately managed preferences

If the hosting platform displays a consent or preference control, that control is separate from the editorial tools described above. It may store your choice in a cookie or local storage so that it can remember it. Refer to the information shown with that control for its specific storage name, duration and available settings.

Choosing a consent option does not itself introduce analytics or advertising into this editorial application. Any additional non-essential service must be disclosed and handled according to the consent requirements that apply to it.

Copying and downloading

Copy writes text to the clipboard only after you activate the button. The browser may require a secure connection or permission. Clipboard history and cross-device synchronisation can retain copied text independently of this website.

Download creates a plain-text file when requested. The file remains wherever your browser or device saves it until you move or delete it. Clearing cookies does not delete downloaded files or necessarily clear clipboard history.

Your controls

You can inspect, block or delete cookies and site storage through your browser’s settings. Clearing stored preferences may cause a platform preference control to appear again. The editorial pages do not require non-essential cookies to read their content.

Use your device controls to clear clipboard history, remove downloads or manage autofill. For broader information about requests, email and privacy rights, read Data Practices. Questions can be directed to [email protected].
